Estepona is getting ready to host the Andalucian Masters Outdoor Athletics Championships in the next few weeks. This will bring hundreds of competitors and spectators from the entire region for two days filled with adrenaline-filled track and field events.
The competition organizers have confirmed that the event will be held on Saturday, 30 May and Sunday, 31 May at Estepona’s impressive athletics Stadium, where athletes will compete both in individual disciplines and club relais.
Estepona stadium hosts huge event
On Saturday, the sports program runs from 10:30am until 11:00pm. On Sunday, it’s 9am to 4:30pm. The tournament, according to the organizers, is the highest level athletics meeting in the Andalucian Masters.
The championships will be organised by Federacion Andaluza de Atletismo, with support from the Estepona Town Council, Andalucia’s Regional Sports Department and Club Atletismo Estepona.
Club Atletismo Estepona hopes to send 20 athletes after the local competitors took home more than 20 medals in the 2025 edition.
Estepona has a history of hosting world-class competitions
Local town athletics facilities in Estepona have regularly held major Andalucian events over the recent years, including previous Masters Championships and regional youth competitions. Due to its incredible climate, the Costa del Sol makes it a great place to host sporting events at this time of year.
In the past, championships held in the same stadium had attracted over 1,000 athletes from Andalucia. Thousands of events were recorded in multiple disciplines.
Club Atletismo Estepona also had a strong performance in previous editions held in the city. Estepona’s athletes collected 24 medals at a previous championship, including relay golds as well as field event wins.
Estepona is preparing for another weekend packed with regional athletics competitions.
