La Malagueta Cultural Centre is hosting an exhibition of photographs that explore the Holy Week in various municipalities throughout Malaga province.
‘An Inner Journey’ consists of shots taken by photographer and journalist Txema Rodríguez in nine inland municipalities, showcasing the richness, diversity and uniqueness with which Semana Santa is experienced in each of them.
Among these towns are Frigiliana, Casarabonela, Archidona, Coín and Cártama, the processions and Holy Week traditions of which are celebrated for their originality. The smaller Easter processions in these towns allow visitors to understand the actual events better than those held in large cities such as Malaga.
Through the lens of Txema Rodríguez, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in an intimate and emotional vision of this tradition, focusing on the rituals that form part of one of the most deeply rooted cultural expressions in the region.
From Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 2pm as well as from 4pm until 6pm, the exhibition is free. The centre is open between 11am and 1pm on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as from 3pm to 6pm. It will however be closed for Good Friday, the Saturday of April 4th, and Easter Sunday.
