Donkey Dreamland Mijas fire safety appeal raises €3,200 from Costa del Sol community

Amaya Isert enlisted the help of the Costa del Sol Community last week. They delivered! Donkey Dreamland, in Mijas, was threatened by fires from neighbouring overgrown land during the summer heatwave. Many people ignored council warnings to cut back overgrown grass and bushes. Owners of adjacent land. Funding for fire extinguishers, equipment and other items is urgently needed.

Support came quickly via GoFundMe. In just one week, the donations exceeded the goal. All the necessary supplies and protective items are now available to Sanctuary volunteers.

Donkey Dreamland is loved by locals

Families from the Costa del Sol come to see the donkeys that have been rescued. During the trips, children are taught about animal rescue and caring. The sanctuary provides a safe and caring environment for the animals.

Amaya Isert has earned the respect of the community

Amaya, along with the Donkey Dreamland volunteers, dedicate themselves to saving and caring for donkeys each and every day. Her proactive approach is reflected in recent steps taken to prevent fires. She is well-known in the community for her regular updates about spending and needs.

Donations are key to fire safety.

Required spending reached some €2852.58. However, total donations rapidly hit €3200. All costs were paid in full, with money left over to cover ongoing expenses and losses caused by the temporary closure of the sanctuary. The threat of wildfires is still present but now there is some form of protection.
