As of Monday, 17 March, the maximum price for regular butane gas in Spain increased by one euro. In the BOE’s latest issue, which is the official gazette for Spain, it was published that the current price of regular butane gas cylinders in Spain has increased by one euro. The price has increased by 6% since the last revision in January. It is the fourth consecutive price increase in Spain, and prices haven’t been this high since January 2023.
The increase in price is due to the revision by the government of the butane price calculation method, which occurred a couple of weeks ago. The price increase is due to an increase in propane and butane (+4.89%), and marketing costs (+14.27%).
This price is calculated based on the international market prices of raw materials (propane, butane), transport costs and exchange rates. This used to only allow a 5% increase or decrease, but the new order of 4 March has allowed for a temporary override. A canister now costs 17.67 euros instead of 17.47 euros according to the old formula.
