CIS’s survey found that nearly three quarters of all Spaniards are satisfied with the quality of their sex. A higher percentage (76.9%), however, considers sex an important component of a happy life. This is more common among men than women.

The survey found that 84.9% of respondents “strongly agree or fairly agreed” that any sexual relationship is acceptable as long as both parties are on the same page. Also, 78.2% are “strongly” or “fairly” in agreement that there still exist many prejudices about sex and secrecy within Spanish society. In regards to sexual preference, 62.6% of respondents believe that an individual can have both male and female sexual relations throughout their lifetime.

As for cheating, a 64.5% of people consider that having sexually charged messages, calls, or conversations on social media is infidelity. Seventy-six percent of these respondents are women compared to only 58.1% of men. It is more prevalent among the 18-24 year olds (83.5%) than the older group (52.3%). It is widely believed (91%) that “having emotional and sexual relations with another individual” means unfaithfulness.

For 76.3% Spaniards, maintaining a sexual relationship through social media with no face-toface contact is also considered infidelity. Only 53% of Spanish people consider a “kiss on the lips” as a sign of infidelity.

In terms of sexual practices, vaginal penetrating is the most common (92.4%). This is followed by masturbation (80.3%) and oral sex (78.1%). According to the survey, 23.3% said that they had slept only with one person. Meanwhile, 22.5% stated they had slept only with five or ten people.
