Casa de Las Tejerinas in Estepona’s central district hosts a one-of-a kind art exhibition of Turkish artist Tijen Ercen.

The watercolour exhibition in Sala 2 entitled A Celebration of Sustainability & Creativity will run from July 16 to August 16, with admission free. Visit the exhibit Tuesday to Friday between 9am and 8pm, and on Saturdays 9am to 2pm with 4pm to 8:30pm.

This exhibition presents seventeen large-scale paintings in watercolour, each painted beautifully with an approach that combines art and environmental awareness. Ercen is a retired artist who has been pursuing her passion for art since retirement. Ercen moved from Turkey to Germany in 1977, where she built a successful career in pharmaceuticals. Her artistic journey was influenced by fashion, modelling, design and her fascination with colour.

Ercen’s vision and process are as unique as she is. She fills antique frames with epoxy resin and repurposes old coffee capsules. “I don’t polish or paint them,” she says. Some frames I select have been damaged in their original style, colour, or shape. This method not only ensures each piece is unique, but also shows the artist’s commitment to recycling.
