Aemet extends weather warning for heavy downpours of rain in Andalucía

The calm that follows the storm will not come immediately. Claudia is refusing to leave Andalucía and has forced the activation of new weather warnings for heavy rainfall in the region. Aemet (the state meteorological agency) has therefore added Seville as a second province in the yellow alert that is being issued for Monday, November 17th, due to heavy rainfall expected along the coast of Cadiz until 9pm. Aemet, in its most recent update, has added Seville and the northern sierra to this adverse weather chart with forecasts of up to 15mm per hour. Cadiz may see up to 40mm of rain in just 12 hours. Thunderstorms are also possible.

Aemet forecasts that from Tuesday until the end of the week, “hardly any rainfall is expected in Andalucía”

The forecast points to a Monday marked in Andalucía by “cloudy or very cloudy skies with weak to moderate rainfall, more likely and intense on the Atlantic coast and the Strait area, where they can be locally strong and persistent and be accompanied by occasional thunderstorms”. Temperatures will fall and winds will blow moderately to lightly from the West, with strong intervals in the Atlantic Coast during the first part of the day. Almeria with 21C, Huelva with 20C, Seville with 20C will be the provinces that have the highest thermometers, while Granada with 6C and Cordoba with 8C will have this Monday’s lowest temperatures in the region.

After the latest effects of Claudia in the region, Aemet points out that from tomorrow, Tuesday, until the end of the week, “hardly any rainfall is expected in Andalucía”. The agency says that temperatures will drop significantly between Thursday and Friday, but then start to rise around Sunday. Winter coats are needed.
