Policía Nacional officers have dismantled three alleged drug-selling points in Gandía and arrested six people, in a coordinated operation that targeted what investigators described as reactivated sales points in different parts of the town.
The arrests were made on Tuesday after officers carried out three simultaneous searches. Those detained are three men and three women, aged between 27 and 41, and are suspected of offences against public health.
According to police, the operation was led by Gandía’s local police station as part of its work against the trafficking and distribution of narcotics in the town. Investigators first learned that the three locations were back in use and began monitoring the premises before moving in.
Two family groups were allegedly behind the sales
Police said the inquiries suggested that the points were being run by two family groups, which allegedly used the houses as their main and daily activity for drug distribution. The raids were carried out at the same time to prevent evidence being moved or destroyed.
Specialist units from judicial police, canine handlers and public safety officers took part in the searches. In the homes, officers seized 55 grams of cocaine, 55 grams of marijuana, as well as hashish and heroin. Police also recovered more than €4,000 in cash.
One of the searches reportedly led officers to a concrete door that had been made to look like wood, which investigators said had to be overcome before they could enter the property. The detail underlines how the premises had been adapted to try to conceal activity inside.
Case now in the hands of the court
The six detainees have been placed at the disposal of the duty court in Gandía. The investigation remains open, although police have not said whether further arrests are expected.
For residents, the case is another example of the pressure local police forces continue to face in tackling street-level drug dealing in coastal towns, particularly where sales points are repeatedly reopened after previous police action.
