International Theatre Studio’s members came together at one of its popular outdoor gatherings to show their support for an important cause. Funds collected totalled €1,740 and were given over last week to EMAUS Obra de Amor in Estepona through ticket sales, donations and a lively and fun raffle draw.
The Lark in Park event generates crucial support
The theatre group Benahavis, Spain, hosted the successful fundraiser on June 7, 2008. The fundraiser was a success. Thousands of spectators enjoyed performances and other activities that were a combination of entertainment and generosity. Now, the proceeds will be used to help families who face tightening budgets as a result of increasing living costs.
International Theatre Studio representatives personally hand over the funds
Its Lark Producer Fiona Poole joined Lark Kate Jackson, the director, will present the check. The theatre group has been supporting local causes on the Costa del Sol for many years.
Ildefonso Tirado, President of EMAUS, received the donation and expressed his gratitude. He thanked International Theatre Studio and everyone who took part in the raffle for choosing his organization as the recipient. This contribution will help many families who are struggling to meet their daily expenses.
EMAUS is a daily essential for everyday assistance
Volunteers from the Estepona-based charity run social kitchens which deliver meals and provide a warm environment for those in need. Their focus is on providing practical assistance such as food parcels, community meals and other forms of support to vulnerable residents in the area.
The theatre community continues to give back
International Theatre Studio has a long-standing tradition of producing quality English language productions while supporting worthy causes. Members receive discounted tickets, and have the opportunity to assist on stage or join shows.
