Benahavis will be gearing up for the sound of roars as it prepares for another major weekend of motorsport as the Copa de España de Trial de Clásicas or ‘Spanish Cup for Classic Trial Motorbikes’ heads to the Costa del Sol on Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24. The second round of 2026 will bring riders and fans in large numbers to the mountain village.
The event will see more than 100 riders competing on classic motorcycles that date back decades. Categories include a variety of vintage trial bikes. The Club Deportivo Motorista Benahavis has prepared an 11-kilometer route with 12 technical sections specifically designed for vintage motorcycles.
Benahavis builds upon earlier trial successes
Benahavis has seen a steady increase in interest in trial riding following the recent top-level competitions in the region, including rounds in the Spanish Trial Championship and TrialGP. The town was boosted by the popularity of earlier races.
Both Saturday and sunday, the competition begins at 9am with two laps completed per day. The championship round was originally scheduled for Saturday, 16 May and Sunday 17 May. However, due to Andalucian electoral calendar, the event organizers moved it back a week.
Spanish Championship Battle Heads South
The focus will be on the riders who are already battling for early championship points, after the first round was held in Alpens, Catalonia in April. Officials from the RFME (Royal Spanish Motorcycling Federation), confirmed Benahavis was one of six venues on the national calendar for 2026.
Benahavis Town Hall and the Federacion Andaluza de Motociclismo, along with the RFME, are supporting this event.
The weekend is the perfect time for motorcycle enthusiasts and sports fans to come and see the restored machines at their best. Visit the Benahavis Town Hall website for more information.
