Parking costs in Estepona have been reduced dramatically. Council-run underground facilities now compete head-on with private car parks and charge just €1 per day, €2 for overnight stays, or €3 for a full 24 hours. These rates contrast hugely with private options that often reach €17 daily and can include extra fees.
The old town used to have high parking costs that impacted the holiday budgets of hotel guests. Many properties, such as Hotel Pilar in Plaza de las Flores, provide only minor discount vouchers worth €2 off private rates. Even after a reduction in price, the costs are still substantial. This is especially true when on-street parking spaces are limited or nonexistent. Now, the centre has a low emission zone.
A new municipal facility with 131 parking spaces opens
The town hall on Avenida San Lorenzo has an underground parking garage. The underground car park has a capacity of 131 cars as part a growing municipal network that is designed to relieve pressure on the central zones. The site has a simple access for drivers and a flat fee that is predictable.
This improvement is part of an overall plan to improve the quality of life for both tourists and residents. Estepona’s total trip cost can be calculated easily, which helps families and couples to budget for their time in the garden city.
Avenida San Lorenzo reopens after major upgrades
Roadworks on Avenida San Lorenzo between Calle África and Prolongación Cristo Rey have finally finished to everyone’s relief, allowing traffic to flow in both directions once more. Hidralia’s concessionaire for water services, Hidralia, completed the project by collecting improvement levies. Around 2,800 square metres were covered by the works.
Water and sewage pipes were replaced to meet the modern demands for flow and pressure. Pavements in the eastern part were standardised, while all affected utilities were renewed. For a uniform and “bonito-style” appearance, the new surfacing for the road and the walkways will match the style of the streets nearby.
Practical benefits for Costa del Sol trips
These changes provide welcome relief for those who drive to Estepona’s centre, as well as residents year-round who want to visit the shops. The availability of affordable parking has eliminated a major barrier to short trips or extended stays. The combination of road and infrastructure upgrades has greatly improved accessibility and brought daily convenience to the public without any complicated charges.
Estepona’s council is expanding its network of low-cost parking, which makes this Andalusian city even more attractive for drivers. The guests can focus on the attractions of the town rather than worry about expensive vehicle storage costs.
This weekend, when Estepona celebrates the rescheduled Foreign Residents’ Day (Saturday, April 25), is a great opportunity to test out the new parking at low cost.
