‘You can’t miss it, Morrissey!’: Spain’s UK embassy pokes fun at British music legend for cancelling Valencia gig over Fallas ‘noise’

THE Spanish embassy in the UK has jokingly mocked singer Morrissey after the artist cancelled a performance in Valencia due to ‘lack of sleep’.

The ex-Smiths frontman was meant to play at Valencia’s Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía On March 12, the concert was cancelled due to complaints about loud noises caused by Las Fallas celebrations.

Las Fallas, an annual celebration lasting a week, is a time when locals set off fireworks as well as burn wood and old items.

The Fallas celebration displays have become massive temporary art projects – some costing millions of euros to build.

Festival celebrations usually begin a few weeks before the official date of March 15.

Morrissey had stated on his website that the concert may not take place.

The article read: “After travelling for two days on the road, Morrissey arrived at his hotel in Valencia late Wednesday.” The festival noise and loud techno music, as well as megaphone announcements, made it impossible to sleep or rest.

Morrissey is now in a state of catatonia.”

The show ended up being cancelled.

Morrissey has a reputation of cancelling and postponing his shows.

After the backlash online, the Spanish Embassy also joined in.

This is his sixth cancelled concert on tour.

He already called off concerts in St. Petersburg, San Diego, St. Louis, and Atlanta due to ‘artist illness’.

Despite Morrissey stating that it would take him ‘one year to recover’ from his sleep-deprived ordeal, he managed to perform to adoring crowds in Zaragoza on March 14 and Sevilla on March 16.
