15-year-old Spaniard crowned world skateboarding champion in São Paulo

Spanish teenager Egoitz Bijueska was crowned world champion in the park discipline at the World Skateboarding Championship held in São Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday.

The 15-year old Bilbao skater won the title after a thrilling showdown between Gui Khury of Brazil and Augusto Acio from his country. Bijueska, who had led the standings in the second round with 92.28 before he fell in his third attempt, scored 95.83 in his final golden run.

Bijueska improved throughout the competition. She finished fourth in the quarterfinals, and third in semi-finals, with 88.01 point.

Bijueska’s 45-second flawless routine sealed the title, capping a season of outstanding performances that included the World Cup in Ostia as well as the Spanish Championship.

Due to budgetary issues, the event originally planned for Washington, DC in September 2025 was postponed and finally staged in Brazil this month.
