Spain is set to experience a new boom in tourism as tourists shun other destinations due to Middle East conflict fears

The largest tour operator in Europe, Tui, believes that holidaymakers who are switching from the Middle East to Spain will benefit.

Some companies report that tourists are canceling holidays in popular locations like Egypt and Turkey.

TUI’S EBEL

TUI Sebastian Ebel met with Mallorca hoteliers at a large tourist fair in Germany, on Thursday, and confirmed the scenario.

Destinia’s spokesperson said that cancellations are on the rise in particular destinations like Egypt, Jordan and Dubai.

He added that “fear is influencing travel decisions, even though in many cases things continue to run normally.”

Egypt and Turkey, which are directly competing with Spain to offer sunshine holidays, are the main destinations for tourists in this region.

Canary Islands Hotel Owner Tells El Pais that he expected a switch to the Canaries in ‘coming weeks’.

The Tourism Intelligence Firm has released a report. Mabrian Five key travel markets were surveyed, including the United Kingdom (UK), Germany, France and Italy.

Spain is one of the countries that will see a shift in people from the Middle East.

Mabrian’s Carlos Cendra commented: “Things seem to indicate a growing desire to stay close to home.”

This trend is most evident among German travelers, who are more interested in destinations like Morocco and Greece. Italians also show a shift towards Croatia, Norway, the Czech Republic and Spain.

Cendra concluded that “UK travelers are following a similar trend, with Malta and Morocco gaining in popularity as alternate options.”
