MARBELLA’S long-delayed Four Seasons project has taken another step forward after the town hall approved €9 million in urbanisation works for the El Pinar site in Río Real.
Seven years after the first stone was laid in Marbella, the luxury resort project is once again moving forward, with new planning steps and multi-million-euro works on infrastructure.
In 2018, the luxury development was announced for the first time. A high-profile ceremony marked a symbolic laying of a foundation stone.
At the time, it was described as one of the most significant tourism investments in Andalucía, with a projected budget exceeding €650 million.

Since then, this scheme has been tied to urban planning procedures.
Administrative progress has been slow, with the final approval for the partial plan not arriving until 2021.
The recently approved urbanisation project is approximately 35 hectares in size and contains 26,000 square meters of roads as well as more than 100,000 sq. m. of public facilities.
Now, the sectoral reports will be sent out to other administrations.
The site will be improved with noise barriers on both sides of A-7, a pedestrian bridge at Teniente Riera Street and an extension of service road. There will also be a north-south tunnel, as well as a roundabout.
The project includes a Grand Luxury Four Seasons Hotel with approximately 200 rooms and hundreds of luxury apartments. The Four Seasons concept includes both hotel accommodations and private homes.
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts was founded in 1960 and operates over 120 luxury properties around the world. It is considered one of most prestigious names within international hospitality.
Four Seasons comes to Costa del Sol
The resort will add restaurants, beachclubs, wellness facilities, and conference rooms to Marbella’s eastern edge. This will further strengthen the city’s position as an international magnet for buyers, investors, and expats.
The developers are expected to submit a land redistribution map in the coming week, marking the next step administratively in a project which has taken more than seven year’s time to complete.
