Local favourite Ivanildo Kembel swaps sunshine for spotlight in Rotterdam

Ivanildo Kembel, a Rotterdam favourite, swaps the sun for the spotlight

Our very own Marbella-based soulful singing wonder, Ivanildo Kembel, recently traded the sunny beaches and nightlife of the Costa del Sol for the chilly winds of the Netherlands earlier this month – and it was all to share the stage with one of the country’s biggest stars.

The charismatic Dutch performer, a regular at top venues like Joys Live and La Sala in Puerto Banús, was invited as the special support act for Jeroen van der Boom’s acclaimed The Pianoman concert series at Rotterdam Ahoy.

Rotterdam Ahoy’s RTM stage was transformed in December into the “largest piano bar in Holland” with four sold-out concerts. The venue was packed with thousands of fans each night, for an interactive show of hits, classics, and audience requests. Jeroen played the grand piano, delivering everything Billy Joel’s Piano Man, Elton John’s Your Song as well as his own chart-toppers.

Ivanildo is the support act for one of the biggest Dutch artists

Ivanildo, who is known for his powerful voice and infectious stage presence, opened and livened the shows. He combined soulful Motown vibes with pop anthems reggae rhythms, and party favorites that had everyone on their feet right from the beginning. Known to locals here on the Costa del Sol for his powerful voice and infectious stage presence – honed from appearances on The Voice of Holland and beyond – Ivanildo brought a touch of Mediterranean warmth to the Dutch winter spectacle.

Ivanildo spoke about his experience: “It felt like an honour to be able to support Jeroen at such a large venue.” The energy in the audience was amazing. Sharing the stage while representing Costa del Sol and my own country felt extra special.”

Ivanildo fans on the Costa del Sol are proud of their hero. They have watched him go from small gigs to big international stages.

Ivanildo, now back in the sun, is already planning more performances along the coast. You will not want to miss his warmth after he just warmed Europe’s biggest stadium!
