The number of registrations for EVs has more than doubled
Total registrations of electrified vehicles – fully electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models – surged in November. ANFAC reported 23,367 electric vehicles registered during the month. This is up 103.8% compared to November of 2024, and represents 20.77% of the market overall across all vehicle types.ANFAC).
For passenger cars alone, electrified turismos reached 21,315 registrations last month and 22.65 per cent of that segment –essentially twice their share a year earlier – according to data cited by Spanish financial newspaper Cinco Días. Over January–November, electrified passenger cars totalled 201,751 units, equivalent to 19.3 per cent of all cars sold in Spain.

The Spanish new car market increased by 12.9% in November, to 94.124 registrations. This brings the year-to date total for 2025 to 1,045.638 cars, an increase of 14.7% over 2024. ANFAC, Faconauto, and Ganvam, along with dealer associations, compiled figures that show sales are 9.3 per cent lower than 2019 levels.
ANFAC stated that November’s data was a “milestone” in the transition to cleaner transportation. Director general José López-Tafall emphasised that more than 200,000 EVs have now been sold in Spain this year and warned that, while progress is clear, “electrification still needs to accelerate” to match European averages.
Buyer behaviour continues to be shaped by EV incentives
The growth of EV registrations is largely due to government subsidy programmes such as Moves. This year. By 2025, Moves was to be phased-out and replaced, starting next year, by the new centralised Auto Plan 2030. The plan is intended to streamline applications, reduce disparities and simplify regional differences.
Tesla’s Spanish performance is indicative of wider European trends
Tesla’s lower November sales in Spain is consistent with trends across Europe. Separate registration figures were reported by Reuters Tesla’s November Sales in France and Denmark dropped by 58 percent and 49 percent respectively compared to a year ago, even though the overall EV market in these countries continued to grow.
What this means to drivers in Spain
Spanish motorists who are considering buying an electric vehicle will be interested in the market’s rapid evolution. Tesla continues to be a dominant brand. Year-to-date, sales are still higher than they were in 2024. But competition is increasing as more buyers choose electric and plug-in models.
With some of Europe’s most generous EV incentives still active through the end of 2025 – and a new national scheme due in 2026 – those weighing up a Tesla or a rival model face a market offering greater choice, sharper pricing, and a growing share of EVs on Spanish roads.
