This year’s gala of the Michelin guide did not award any extra stars to Andalucia or Valencia’s top restaurants.
According to persistent rumours both Benito Gomez and Marcus Granda from Skina in Marbella did not receive the all-important 3rd star.
Dani Carnero did not win a second prize for his Kaleja, which was highly rated in Malaga.

In a disappointing night at Malaga’s Sohrlin theatre, at least the leading three Michelin maestros – Angel León in Cadiz, Quique Dacosta in Denia and Paco Morales in Cordoba – kept the top global culinary honour.
In Spain, the three Michelin stars chefs who occupied the top positions all retained their position while five new two star restaurants emerged.


And meanwhile many of the 25 new one Michelin star joints – a huge and generous haul for the guidebook – were within Spain’s southern regions.
This included Faralá, in Granada, Mare in Cadiz and Palodu, close to home, in Malaga city.

Ochando in Sevilla also received a star, while Recomiendo in Cordoba was awarded the same honour.
Ruben Mirallas, in Castellón and Simposio in Valencia joined them.

When it comes to new restaurants with two stars, the North is a clear winner.
The biggest achievement was when Ramon Freixa, a celebrated chef from Madrid, won a star at Atelier again after moving to a different location.
