Andalusia will experience its peak in an exceptional cold snap Winter temperatures will arrive this weekend due to a large mass Arctic polar air which has been impacting the area since Monday. Between Friday and Saturday, the dramatic thermal plunge that will affect the eight Andalusian regions will reach its climax.
Forecasters expect the temperatures to be lowest around Huescar in northeast Granada Province, where they predict that the mercury will drop to as low as -4°C Saturday
Most of Andalucia will experience a cold snap
The coldest day is expected to be Saturday in the entire region. Granada is expected to have the coldest temperatures among the province capitals. hitting just 1°C on Friday night with maximums only reaching 13°C. The low temperatures will persist throughout the weekend with only a slight increase in maximum temperatures on Sunday. The cold will also be felt intensely in Jaen (high 11°C/low 3°C) and Cordoba (high 14°C/low 3°C) on Saturday. Sevilla, for its part, will see a maximum of 17°C and a minimum of 6°C overnight.
Temperatures are expected to drop slightly in coastal capitals but still be noticeable. Malaga’s maximum will not exceed 17°C on Saturday, with nighttime temperatures staying around 10°C. Almeria will have a temperature difference of one degree in both cases. Cadiz will see 19°C during the day and 9°C at dawn on Saturday. The exception to the coastal mildness is Huelva, where maximums will be somewhat cooler, and the overnight drop could be considerable, reaching just 4°C in the early hours of Sunday.
The coldest temperatures will be in the inland. Temperatures could drop below zero during weekend nights in parts of Ronda and Antequera, Málaga. Similarly, in environments like the Sierra de Grazalema (Cadiz), Sierra de Aroche (Huelva), towns near the Sierra de Cazorla (Jaen), and municipalities close to Sierra Nevada (Almeria), temperatures are expected to hover around 0°C.

Fans of winter sports will be pleased to see the snowfall and cold weather in this region. Sierra Nevada Ski Resort, in southern Spain, is set to open on November 29 for the 2025/26 winter season. Recent announcements by the resort operator have confirmed this date. CetursaSnowmaking has been activated to prepare the slopes for early season snowfall due to Storm Claudia. The season will last until April 26.
