Benalmadena Pueblo Charity Food Fair BENAL-ELA

Benalmadena will host the BENAL -ELA Gastronomic Festival, a one-day event devoted to raising money for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis research.

The Los Nadales Fairgrounds will host the charity event, which will run from 12:30 to 8pm. It will feature live music, delicious gastronomic treats, and fun activities for all the family.

Food, music and a great cause

The cause can be supported by a number of different options. These include food and beverage stalls that offer items at very affordable prices. A highlight of the foodie fair will be the special ‘turrón solidario’ (charity turron).

The afternoon will be filled with live performances by local musicians and artists. They will use their talents and energy to create a fun atmosphere where entertainment and community service are combined.

According to the organisersEvery small gesture counts. With activities such as these, we are able to unite the community in support of ALS research, improving the lives and health of those affected by it.

Community dedication is on display

Benal ELA is looking forward to a large show of force by the locals who will help eat up all the wonderful food. There will be stalls selling artisanal sweets, cakes and drinks, as well as an enormous community paella. A raffle, local dance troupes, and drinks stalls are also planned.

ALS, or ELA (Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica), is a fatal, progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the nerve cells (motor neurone) in the brain and spinal cord, which control voluntary muscle movement. The muscles become weaker as these neurons die. This leads to paralysis, eventually affecting your ability to breathe, speak or swallow. Although the condition limits physical functions, it does not usually affect a person’s senses or mind. The money raised at events such as the BENALELA Festival is crucial to advancing global research and finding a treatment.

The festival is organised in a collaborative manner, with the support of local associations, volunteer groups, and community organizations, including representatives from all levels. Benalmadena ALS Association, various religious brotherhoods (Nazareno and Cautivo), Peña de la Cruz, and the Benalmadena Fishing Sports Club. They hope that their hard work will transform the fairgrounds to a place of hope and progress for the fight against ALS.
