It seems everyone’s jumping on the AI bandwagon – and OpenAI has just proved it. ChatGPT announced that it has more than 1 million paying customers. It is the fastest-growing platform for businesses in history.

Cisco, Morgan Stanley, Booking.com, Lowe’s and Target are just a few of the global companies that have put AI to use in everything from software engineering to customer service. This adoption rate begs the question: ChatGPT is used by many people today.

OpenAI ChatGPT’s popularity has risen largely due to the everyday users that are already familiar. Companies find it easier to implement AI when over 800 millions people use the tool every week.

Faster workflows and smarter tools

OpenAI has released a number of business-ready features to help businesses move beyond experiments and achieve real results. These include:

  • Company Knowledge – lets ChatGPT securely access internal tools like Slack, SharePoint, and Google Drive to give better answers.
  • Codex for developers – firms like Cisco are cutting code review times by 50 per cent.
  • AgentKit – makes building custom AI agents practical. The Carlyle Group has claimed to have halved its development time, and improved accuracy by 30 percent.
  • Multimodal models – from Sora 2 for video creation to Realtime API for live voice agents, helping teams work seamlessly across text, images, and sound.

AI brings big rewards to businesses

Recent Wharton research found that 34% of enterprises already report a positive ROI on AI investments. Less than 5% reported losses.

Examples of real-world examples are:

  • OpenAI’s technology has led to a 20% rise in the number of job applications at Indeed.
  • Lowe’s has a ChatGPT in-store application that helps 1,700 stores provide expert advice.
  • Intercom has reduced the product development cycle from months to just days.
  • Databricks is integrating OpenAI models into its enterprise data management systems.

Build the next generation of Business Apps

OpenAI is announcing the next steps. Building with Not just using AI. Canva Figma and Spotify have all integrated directly into ChatGPT. Shopify, Etsy and Etsy experiment with conversational commerce via the Agentic Commerce Protocol.

In OpenAI’s words, there’s a huge opportunity to “rethink the operating system for work” – and the world’s biggest brands seem keen to help write it.

This milestone shows that AI is quickly becoming a standard part of business operations in Spain and Europe. ChatGPT, which automates admin tasks and manages customer queries, is rapidly becoming a standard tool.

AI isn’t about whether you should use it, but rather how quickly and effectively you can implement it.
