Benalmadena will be preparing some delicious treats to kick off the Ruta de la Tapa de Cine’s ninth year, which runs between October 31 and November 8.
The event this year boasts an unprecedented participation of over 30 local establishments in the three distinct zones: Benalmadena Costa (the town’s coastal area), Arroyo de la Miel (the town’s mountainous region), and Benalmadena Pueblo. Organised By Benalmadena CouncilThe route aims to boost the local economy in the off-season by showcasing the rich culinary selection of the town, mixed with film themes.
Everyone can savour a specially designed tapa coupled with a beverage for just €3 at each participating venue. The tapas are inspired by famous films and highlight creativity, flavours, and presentation. Every bite becomes a tribute to silver screen. Live acts will entertain guests in addition to the delicious food. A talented saxophonist will play movie soundtracks familiar to everyone, evoking nostalgia and excitement.
In a unique atmosphere, the establishments will become cinematic havens. They will offer a mixture of gastronomy culture and leisure.
Participants are encouraged to participate through the “tapaporte”, a passport-style system where they collect stamps from at least 5 venues in order to be entered into a drawing for a weekend in a charming holiday flat in Benalmadena. The drawing will take place at the same time as the ceremony honoring the best tapas. Judges will award cash prizes of €400 for first place, €250 for second, and €100 for third and will be publicly recognised for their excellence in innovation, taste, and aesthetics.
Record for the year signing up The competition is fierce to create the best tapitas for the Ruta de la Tapa de Cine. This event has become a staple since its conception. The initiative supports small businesses and promotes the town year-round as a tourist destination.
