Echoes of Bohemia & Germania: The Legacy a European Violinist left in Fuengirola


Casa de la Cultura, Fuengirola will host a captivating concert entitled “Echoes of Bohemia & Germania: The Legacy of an European Violinist”, on Thursday 16th October at 8pm.

Performed by the acclaimed Trio Halir, the event plans to present a captivating evening of music celebrating the legacy of Czech violinist Karel Halir (1859–1909). Trio Halir was formed in 2016 and features the talents of Spanish cellist Jana Podolska based in Prague as well as Czech pianist Barbora Sejakova. The musicians have won a number of prestigious awards, including the Slovak Conservatories Competition in Prague, the Karl-Bergemann Contest, in Hannover, as well as the European Music Prize Contests in Hannover and Dublin. They have performed in Spain, Germany, Italy and Macedonia.

The audience will be treated to a masterful program inspired by Karel Hailir, a virtuoso who influenced musicians in the 19th and the 20th centuries. The trio’s repertoire includes works tied to Halir’s legacy, such as pieces by Granados and Dvořák, featured on their 2017 debut CD recorded for ArcoDiva and distributed by Naxos. The trio’s upcoming project will feature Paul Juon’s Trio In A Minor, Op. Halir premiered Paul Juon’s Trio in A Minor Op. Halir played Op. 50 by Tchaikovsky in Leipzig, 1888.
