Sober Socials Costa del Sol is kicking off its first-ever event, Mocktail & Mingle, on Thursday, October 23, at 7.30pm at Panorama Beach Club in La Cala de Mijas.
Go Sober For October is a campaign that supports cancer awarenessAECC, the Spanish Association Against Cancer (for breast cancer initiatives), hopes to raise money for this initiative.
Sober Socials Costa del Sol was founded by Emma Thorne Lees, a local expat, and Louise Hazleden. It is a new group for women looking to connect without drinking. This event is for those who are participating in Sober Oct, exploring a lifestyle of sobriety, or have fully embraced sobriety. It will be a fun night with inspiring conversations and community. Emma and Louise say that Sober October provides the perfect opportunity to reconnect after a summer filled with cocktails and barbecues. “We are creating a place where women can feel empowered and celebrate their sobriety.”

Macmillan Cancer Support, which launched the Go Sober in October campaign in 2014, encourages participants to refrain from drinking alcohol for one month. This helps raise money and awareness while also promoting benefits for health, such as improved sleep and energy. The event brings together a worthwhile cause and a new way of socialising in the Costa del Sol.
