Oktoberfest at Donkey Dreamland rescue sanctuary

Oktoberfest at Donkey Dreamland sanctuary

Donkey Dreamland in Mijas, the beloved donkey sanctuary, will host its first Oktoberfest, on October 25, 2018.

The celebration, which is a family affair, will include cold beers and tasty food as well as live music and games. All of this, set in the picturesque hills above La Cala de Mijas, will raise funds to help the growing collection rescued donkeys.

Donkey Dreamland, founded by Amaya Isert five years ago, has provided a safe haven for retired donkeys from Mijas Pueblo’s tourist taxi business. Since the recent phase-out, there has been an increase in animals that need urgent care due to ailments such as saddle sores or emotional distress caused by years of work.

The day will feature a unique blend of Bavarian charm and Costa del Sol appeal, with 20 plus donkeys from the sanctuary as the stars. The animals are gentle and many, like the ones rescued in August, have overcome a difficult past. The event will feature refreshing beer, hearty meals like sausages, local specialties and live music, ranging from folk to upbeat songs, as well family-oriented activities such as ring-tossing and stein-holding competitions.

Tickets can be purchased at www.donkeydreamland.com/events, with an entry fee of just €5. The event is open from 2pm to 6:30pm, offering a relaxing day for friends and families.
