Patrick Knowles, a long-time resident of Fuengirola and singer/songwriter has always been fascinated by music and how a song tells a special story.
He has written and recorded many songs throughout the years. As a Manchester City Football Club supporter, he decided in 2021 to write a new version of the club’s anthem.
The statues recognise the fantastic commitment that Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Sergio (Kun) Agüero had made to Manchester City to take the team from relative obscurity to the very top pf the Premier League and European football.
In the 1980s, when the club was not doing well, the fans took up the song. Blue Moon Richard Rodgers’ and Lorenz Hart’s script was written because the team only won once every blue moon.
Patrick has updated the song to celebrate the unveiling. Ol Blue Moon
