THE 45-year-old woman who killed two people and injured at least ten more after crashing her car onto a busy seafront terrace in Fuengirola has told a court she ‘remembers nothing’ of the tragic Holy Thursday night.
The woman, a national of Iran, who lives in Spain with husband and two kids, is accused by police of crashing her SUV into a restaurant’s terrace on April 17th, just after 9:30pm.
One of the victims was a pedestrian, aged 25, from Sevilla. He died immediately after being hit.

Another Iranian woman, aged 47, who was sitting in the front seat, also died from her injuries.

The Nissan Qashqai she was driving suddenly lost its control on Paseo Maritimo Rey de Espana. She crashed into the corner of a building and then through the Pizzeria Don Santiago terrace.
As diners screeched and fled for cover, several tables were flung in the air.
Three men between the ages of 42 and 50 were among those injured, with three of them suffering serious injuries.
The woman was found to be intoxicated when breathalysed on the scene.

In court, however, this week she denied that she was the driver and claimed not to remember the incident.
She also told the judge she held an international driving licence – though judicial sources confirmed this would not be legally valid in Spain.
The woman who was placed in preventive custody without bail is now facing a number of charges including: two counts each of homicide and injury, reckless driving, alcohol-impaired driving, and driving without a license.
The investigation is being led by the Court of Instruction Number 4 of Fuengirola, and sources close to the court told EFE news agency that the woman appeared to be in a ‘state of shock’ during the crash.
