Wind and hailstorms will hit the Costa del Sol following a sweltering weekend


After a weekend of scorching temperatures in Andalucia, the Costa del Sol is expected to experience unsteady weather. 

The Spanish meteorological agency AEMET warned of heavy rains in Andalucia’s north and east. 

There will be a fierce wind blowing between Gibraltar to Malaga, reaching speeds of up to 60kph, and there may also be high waves.

Temperatures will be significantly lower than the previous day, with temperatures of 25C being expected in most areas along the Costa del Sol. 

There are yellow alerts in many areas of Spain inland, and some orange warnings regarding storms in the area above Madrid or around Zaragoza.

AEMET also warned of the dangers associated with supercells. 

Temperatures will drop and mercury levels will be normal for this season.

Ruben Del Campo, AEMET spokesperson said, “In addition to a more stable atmosphere, locally strong and very strong thunderstorms will form north and east of peninsula as well as the Balearics.”
