Why there are more police on Mijas streets

Why are there more police in Mijas?

Recently, have you been stopped by the police in Mijas? Recently, local police demonstrated that having more officers on duty, who are visible to everyone, is a good way to prevent delinquency and discourage those doing no good.

The council demonstrated, on March 21, that a stronger police presence in Mijas’s districts would help to keep the streets of Mijas safer. The councillor for security stressed, ‘The safety and peace of mind of our neighbours is an absolute priority, and for this it is essential we strengthen the police presence in Mijas Pueblo, Las Lagunas and La Cala’, also informing that, in recent days, preventive controls deployed in different parts of the town have allowed the arrest, only this week, of up to four people with court orders in force.

The mayor pointed out also that there have been 13 arrests this year, of which 10 were for search warrants and arrests. Two arrests were made in connection with crimes involving stolen vehicles, and one was for an alleged burglary.

Policing is based on the strategy of local police and the Council to make criminals aware that they’re not welcome in Mijas. They also want to remind the locals about Mijas being one of safest towns in Spain. Don’t be offended if you are stopped in Mijas by the police. They’re doing a great job.
