POLICE RAID

A 25-year-old complained to the Police about a sweatshop.

He claimed that a 400-kilo bundle fell on his right arm, and his boss fired him for refusing to pay for medical treatment.

The victim said that he did loading and unloading for up to eleven hours per day without a contract.

He was supposed to be paid €1,000 per month, but had only received €45.

Five workers, all foreigners, were found at the warehouse. Two of them were working illegally.

The company had no municipal operating license. It also lacked occupational safety and risk protection measures.

The owner of the business, who was not convicted, was charged with violating the rights of workers.
