Vinicius Jr. was once seen as the future of Real Madrid, an indispensable player for ‘los blancos’.
In 2025, he could be gone.
In a surprise turn of events the Brazilian winger no longer is considered “untouchable”.
Vinicius Jr. has a price: €150 million
Following a season of inconsistent performances and a disappointing showing at the Club World Cup, sources close to the club claim Real Madrid is willing to listen to offers in the region of €150 million.
Yes, the same player who was close to winning the Ballon D’Or and seen as a potential GOAT in the next few years could be packing his bags if the right numbers land on Florentino Pérez’s desk.
A season of ups, downs
The truth is that Vinícius has had a season filled with ups and downs. Vinicius scored 22 goals and contributed 19 assists but that was not good enough for a club that has won many things.
Formerly known for explosive dribbling skills and unstoppable power, he is now a shadow. His partnership with Kylian Mbappé, which had so much hype behind it, has simply not clicked. It’s not a good fit.
Xabi Alonso is a new star in the eyes
In fact, it’s Gonzalo García (the 19-year-old academy graduate) who is gaining more ground alongside Mbappé in training. Xabi Alonso, the head coach of FC Barcelona, is not impressed by Vinicius’ current form. He is putting meritocracy before Vinicius’s performance.
To make things worse, Vinícius reportedly didn’t take well to being played out of position. Alonso shifted him to the left wing during the Club World Cup quarterfinals against PSG. This was something that the player did not agree with. He was said to be frustrated and unhappy by this tactical change.
Not yet a new contract Not yet
Earlier this year, it was widely believed that Vinícius had agreed to a new deal extending his stay until 2030. This news? According to Spanish radio station COPE, this is not true. According to them, no contract has been signed and the player camp has denied any imminent renewal.
Saudi Arabian rumours continue to circulate, and the timing of this revelation only adds fuel to that fire. Given Madrid’s €150M price tag, and the money floating around in the Saudi Pro League, a mega offer may not be far off.
What’s next?
For now, Vinícius is under contract until 2027. If Madrid decides that it is time to move forward, this might not be a big deal. The club wants results, and with the team shifting towards a new era, Vinícius could find himself on the way out.
