Watching Trending TV: Young Sherlock and Vladimir, Season 1

Young Sherlock – Season 1

Young Sherlock continues to follow the trend of revisiting classic TV characters when they were younger. This time, we follow a young Sherlock Holmes who is still a novice detective.

The show’s plot isn’t as sophisticated or as clever as one would expect for a Sherlock Holmes re-imagining. The young Sherlock isn’t as clever or as quick-witted as the audience knows him to be. The show is not part of the Sherlock Holmes canon but it’s full of fun, hijinks and hilarity.

Vladimir

Netflix’s Vladimir, based on a book with the same title, follows a university prof who falls in lust with a much younger colleague. Rachel Weisz gives a captivating performance as the show’s lead, giving depth to a character known only as “M”.

Nothing in this eight-episode Mini-Series is black or white. It’s provocative, pensive and provocative. The series is just as unpredictable as the unnamed protagonist, which leaves viewers constantly guessing.
