AFTER a week of settled and warm weather, a new cold front sweeping in from North Africa is forecast to bring with it the dreaded ‘blood rain’.
Meteo365, a meteorological expert firm, has made a prediction using its long-range forecasting radar.

Western Andalucia appears to be the most vulnerable as a mass dirty air passes through Cadiz and Sevilla, before moving inland.
Some coastal areas in the Mediterranean are able to escape the worst.
Dust and dirt are expected to hit the region as rain and the Costa del Sol will not be spared.

The so-called ‘blood rain’ in Spain causes chaos because it coats cars, windows and buildings in a stubborn layer of red Saharan dust that’s difficult to clean.
This also leads to a worsening of air quality and health warnings being issued for those who are vulnerable or have respiratory problems.
The foreboding forecast coincides with the start of Semana Santa – Spain’s holy week, famed for its nine days of pageantry and processions that bring the crowds out into the street.

Both today and tomorrow will be calm with a nearly clear sky. The only chance of showers is in the afternoons, in the mountainous areas in the north and eastern parts of Spain.
Temperatures are expected to exceed 20C in most parts of the country before giving away to a more unsettled cold snap as the week progresses.
