After being cornered and stopped by Spanish Customs Patrol Boats, DRUG traffickers intentionally set fire to their yacht near Tenerife.
When they realized they were being intercepted, the two crew members – one French and one Dutch – made a desperate decision to destroy millions in cocaine.
One of the smugglers was seriously burned in the fire and had to be airlifted from the scene to the hospital by helicopter.
The cops recovered 25 kilograms before the fire completely destroyed the vessel.

Spanish security forces received information that a suspicious boat near Tenerife planned to transfer a smuggling shipment of drugs to a speedboat.
The National Crime Agency of Britain and the Drug Enforcement Administration in the US provided crucial intelligence to aid this operation.
Spanish authorities described the boarding operation as ‘extremely dangerous’ for customs officers due to rough sea conditions and the fire deliberately started by the smugglers to destroy both the cocaine and their vessel.

“The quick response of customs officers allowed them to first extinguish the flames and board the vessel. They also recovered part of merchandise before the fire was reignited, and eventually destroyed the bulk of cocaine cargo as well the boat it was being transported on,” officials stated.
The vessel, named Lona, along with most of its illicit cargo, was destroyed by the fire.
Two crew members were taken into custody and transported to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, along with the drugs recovered and the patrol boats used in the operation.
