WATCH: Heroic pedestrians rush to help a woman who was blown in the traffic by 100km/h wind during Andalucia’s winter of storms

The moment pedestrians in Andalucia rushed to stop an frightened woman from being blown out into traffic, during a violent thunderstorm, is captured on shocking video.

The video was filmed on Monday in Jaen’s city centre. It shows shoppers struggling to keep their balance as gusts of 100km/h ripped through the streets.

In the video, which has already received over 160,000 views, a number of people are seen joining arms in order to anchor themselves against a gale.

Two men rush to grab a woman who is being pushed dangerously near the road.

The wind is so strong that other pedestrians are seen hunching, near the Gefesta store. They cannot walk forward.

The video shows the power of the storm system that caused chaos in the province of Jaen on Monday and throughout the region.

Emergency services 112 confirmed it handled 178 storm-related incidents, including over 70 in Jaen.

The most common calls involved fallen trees, billboards torn from their mountings, or debris falling onto pavements.

One serious incident occurred at the IPEP adult learning institute in Jaen. At 4pm, a large branch fell on the entrance.

Rail travel was also severed, with the connection between Jaen and Espeluy cut off after a tree fell onto the overhead cables at Grañena station.

Forecasters warn however that the true danger now is torrential rain.

Spain is currently in the grip of Storm Leonardo, a system being supercharged by an ‘atmospheric river’ stretching from the Caribbean.

Experts warn the ground is already ‘full like a sponge’ following weeks of storms, meaning the predicted rainfall has nowhere to go.

The maximum red alerts for Wednesday have been issued in the Serrania de Ronda and Grazalema areas in Malaga, as well as the Serrania de Ronda area of Cadiz.

Flash flooding is a serious risk in cities and towns that have already been saturated by up to 200mm in 24 hours.
