VUELING announces a major increase in its winter schedule, with 1.5 million additional seats available across Santiago de Compostela & Tenerife Norte.
The expansion is coming just weeks after Ryanair revealed it would reduce capacity and close bases at both airports. This sparked warnings of “tourism disasters” in the region.
Vueling is part of IAG and will have its largest ever winter season in the two hubs. It has 578,000 flights from Santiago, and nearly 900,000.

Alicante will be adding weekly flights to routes such as Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca (Sevilla), Malaga, the Canary Islands, Sevilla and Malaga, while Zurich and Alicante are returning to the schedule.

Tenerife Norte is set to see an increase of 11% in seats with 25 additional weekly frequencies. Sevilla, Alicante, Valencia and Barcelona will all see their connections strengthened. Existing routes to Bilbao (Granada), Asturias, Paris and Bilbao (Alicante) will also be maintained.
Jordi PLA, Vueling’s director of route planning and development, says that the expansion will ensure vital links. He added: “We aim to strengthen and maintain connectivity throughout the Canary Islands as well as Galicia.”
