Town in northern Spain votes to revoke honours handed to fascist dictator Franco - despite opposition from far-right Vox

Vox reports that despite the opposition of far-right Vox, a northern Spanish town votes to revoke honors bestowed on Franco.


The proposal to remove all honors and recognitions for Francisco Franco and associates was approved by the Palencia Provincial Council.

All except Vox MP Ricardo Carancio accepted to comply with the Historical Memory Law which recognizes the rights for the victims of Spanish Civil War.

Budget amendments were agreed to boost commercial funding, increasing town council support from €11,000 to €93,500 and allocating €100,000 to promote the Alimentos de Palencia the province at events.
