Vinicius Junior is alleged to control a Brazilian football club
According to Spanish outlet Marca, and Italian journalist Gianluca di MarzioThe Brazilian forward was under scrutiny as a result of a formal FIFA Ethics Committee complaint that Tiberis Holding do Brasil filed on April 7.
Tiberis previously held a 16.5% stake in Athletic Club of São João del Rei, a Brazilian team recently promoted to Serie B. The company says it was bypassed by a share purchase deal where the controlling ownership was allegedly transferred from ALL Agenciamento Esportivo to Vinicius Soares and his father Thacilo.
Alverca Connection
FIFA is concerned by Vinicius’s reported connection with Portuguese club Alverca. It raises the red flags of potential conflicts in international transfers. A recent loan deal involving Rafael Conceição, who moved from São João del Rei to Alverca, is believed to be one of the triggers for the probe.
FIFA regulations state that active players cannot own or control multiple professional football clubs. This violation can result in a maximum two-year ban. Vinicius may also be subject to a financial fine or forced to give up some of his shares.
