Hundreds march to remember Victoria Hart

Victoria Hart is remembered by hundreds of marchers

On Sunday, February 22nd, in a powerful show of grief and solidarity, around 300 people gathered for a charity stroll in memory Victoria Hart. Victoria Hart was a much-loved British mom of three, who tragically lost her family to domestic violence in January. Victoria’s memory was celebrated, and the event served as an eloquent call to action for women in Spain. It attracted participants from Malaga province and elsewhere.

The walk was organised by Hart’s family and close friends. It began at noon at the Mirador hotel, on the outskirts Alhaurin el Grande near Hart’s former home. Locals, Spanish citizens, and expats from all over the world attended. Many donned white and purple T-shirts emblazoned with the message “Victoria – Alto a la Violencia Doméstica” (Stop Domestic ViolenceIt is a symbol of purity, and the fight against gender abuse.

Walk of love and solidarity 2.3 km

The 2.3-kilometre path led from the Alhaurin el Grande central library to the hotel. The procession, which was not accompanied by an official police force, caused the traffic to stop on the busy road as the walkers made their way to the pedestrian pathway. Drivers honked in support while onlookers were stunned by the sheer number of people.

Jemma is Victoria’s older sister and one the event organizers. She spoke passionately about the turnout. She told Euro Weekly, “We cannot thank everyone enough for coming in such large numbers. Not only my mother and I, but for the children as well.” “ItThe community loved their mum, and that was a great thing to see. It’s also good for children to see.”

The campaign continues

Then, after a quick rest at the Mirador Hotel, the participants continued their journey back to the hotel on one of the hottest summer days. The event raised funds to help Hart’s children who are now being cared for by family members. The event raised money for Hart’s kids, who are currently in the care of other family members. GoFundMe campaignMaxine Hill has set up a fund to help with their maintenance. They collect money for essentials such as food, clothing and everyday needs.

In addition to remembrance and commitment, the walk also highlighted a desire for change. Organisers announced they planned to work with a charity that focuses on domestic violence and advocate the development of an accessible panic bracelet.

Victoria will never be forgott

“Victoria will not be forgotten, least of all in Alhaurín el Grande,” said one walker. “Her family, her friends and her neighbours will continue to fight for women’s safety everywhere because of this terrible thing that happened.”

This event demonstrates a growing movement against gender violence in Spain, where these cases continue to shock the community. As the crowd dispersed the message was clear – more must and will happen to prevent further tragedies.
