The Valencian government has removed 11952 holiday homes rentals from its regional registry in the last year after owners did not follow stricter registration requirements.
The number announced on the Friday comes exactly one year after a law was introduced to ban tourist accommodations without a cadastral identification number (NIF) or tax identification numbers.
Over 7,000 more ‘removals’ are planned before the end of 2025 to complete the total clean up of the Valencian tourist property rental registry.

Since the decree entered into force in last year’s period, there have been 8,579 new tourist houses registered – nearly double the number from the previous period.
In the period between January 2025 and July 2025, there were 4,688 new homes built. The majority of these, 3,391, are in Alicante with 1,506 in Valencia.
Valencian Community has currently 94 259 tourist rental properties that are officially registered.
Regional tourism minister, Marian Cano, said the first year of the tougher law has resulted in a ‘profound transformation in one of the most relevant and dynamic tourism sectors of our economy’.
“It is now possible for tourist housing to be more legal, sustainable, and controlled, while also combating intrusions, and improving the coexistence of citizens.”
Cano added that this was most ‘ambitious’ purging of the tourist rental registry.
Inspections increased 33% over the past year to ensure that all declarations are accurate and meet requirements.
This new law also allows individual municipalities to carry out inspections and keep any fines.
They include the cities of Benidorm and Valencia, with the regional capital collecting over €30,000 in penalties during the first three months of the measure.
