A Valencia man, 32 years old, has been accused by his ex-wife of giving her ammonia after she asked for a cup of water.
The victim spent several days in ICU at the Doctor Peset Hospital.
The Policia Nacional has arrested her ex-partner on Friday for causing serious injuries, breaking and entry, and family abuse.

After his court appearance the next day, he received bail.
Both people involved in this incident have different accounts of the events that occurred in Valencia on 21 March.
The man stated that his ex wife mistakenly believed the bottle contained water and drank it.
He also said that both bottles were colourless and contained identical liquids, one containing water and the second ammonia.
He said that he always carried a small ammonia bottle in his car because he uses it to clean its interior.
The victim stated that she was intentionally given the corrosive fluid to drink.
She said that she had severe burning in her throat and mouth after taking just a sip.
Her ex-husband immediately brought her to the hospital.
