THE woman behind the wheel of the car that crashed on the Fuengirola promenade – killing two people and critically injuring three others – has been arrested by police.
The 45-years-old Iranian driver tested positive on a breathalyzer test conducted by Local Police. He was also found to have been driving without an active licence.
She was arrested on suspicion of double murder, reckless endangerment and driving while under the influence.
A pedestrian aged 25 died on the spot. The front seat passenger of the car also died.

The incident left several people with minor injuries on the scene. paseo maritimo A car ploughed into a restaurant’s terrace at Carvajal.
A car was seen travelling at a speed well over the limit along the promenade.

One witness said that he heard the car’s ‘screeching tyres’ before veering off a curve, striking a lamppost and sliding up on to the terrace of a pizzeria.
The car crashed into multiple tables, and then stopped on the road in front of a parked vehicle.
The aftermath of the crash was shattered glasses, broken tables, and destroyed infrastructure.
Local and National Police arrived on scene to secure the area, and begin an investigation.
