Benalmadena Pueblo, in the midst of a parking crisis that has lasted for years, is now about to find a solution with a new car park underground at Los Nadales. Local officials and residents alike have long called this solution overdue.
The council has launched a €666,333.75 tender to transform the existing space beneath the fairground into a modern facility for 97 vehicles and five motorcycles, with works expected to begin post-summer and conclude within six months, barring delays. The project bids close on June 4, 2025.
Benalmadena Pueblo residents, local businesses, and visitors have been frustrated by the severe parking shortages for many years. The Mayor Juan Antonio Lara said that the project was a response to “a historical demand” by the community. He noted that the lack spaces had stifled tourism and commercial activity in this area with outstanding beauty. The new car park is equipped with advanced systems such as fire safety, ventilation and CCTV. There will also be guided parking as well as an lift connecting the fairground facility. The project includes renovating the bathrooms on the same floor, which will improve the fairground’s functionality.
This plan comes after delays in other urgent local infrastructures projects, increasing the urgency of parking solutions. José Luis Bergillos, Councillor for Works, stressed that the car park will have up-to-date facilities and improve accessibility, offering hope to a community weary of driving round in circles looking for somewhere to park.
