The UK and Netherlands have signed an important deal to collaborate on “the industries for tomorrow”.
The agreement was signed this week in London by UK’s Minister of AI and Online Safety Kanishka Narayana and Dutch Economic Affairs minister Vincent Karremans. It aims at strengthening ties between Europe’s two most innovative economies.

Officials have said that the partnership will be focused on three areas which are critical for future economic growth.
Semiconductors are the chips in phones, computers, and automobiles.
The UK has several strong semiconductor clusters in South Wales and Cambridge, while ASML is one of the leading chip-making machine manufacturers in the Netherlands.
Both countries could benefit from a stronger supply chain and more independence by working together.
Quantum science: Process information faster than before.
Quantum computing is said to be the future of computing.
The two countries are already running a joint research and development programme worth around £1.2 million, which could soon expand to cover next-generation computing, healthcare technology and clean energy.
Artificial Intelligence: Making life easier
In terms of AI, both governments look beyond chatbots and ChatGPT. They are creating systems that act more like a human brain in order to assist people with their daily lives. This includes making travel easier, hospitals faster, and homes more energy-efficient.
UK Minister, Narayan, said, “Breakthrough technologies like AI and quantum are at the heart of our ambitions for economic growth, better public services and national renewal.”
