Next week, the Arts Societies Costa del Sol & Nerja will take turns hosting author Chris Aslan Alexander of Unravelling the Silk Road.

Chris Aslan was born in Turkey and spent most of his childhood in Beirut and Turkey. After studying journalism and media at Leicester University, Chris moved to Khiva in Uzbekistan where he set up a Unesco-sponsored workshop to revive 15th century embroideries and carpet designs.

Chris lived in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and the Pamir Mountains for several years after writing his first novel, A Carpet Ride To Khiva.

Chris will be speaking about his experiences and latest book to the Costa del Sol Arts Society at the Salon Varietés theatre in Fuengirola on Monday 10 February at 4.30pm. He’ll also be in Nerja on Tuesday 11th February at 6pm at Centro Cultural.

He will also be giving an extra lecture, ‘How to get down from a yak: adventures in Central Asian nomadic textiles’, on Tuesday morning at the Danish Club in Mijas at 10.30am.
