A MAN with severe burns remains in intensive-care after allegedly lighting a fire deliberately in his bathroom in central Almeria, forcing the evacuation of 9 rooms.
La Voz de Almeria reported that the fire broke out around 12.40am Wednesday in the Hotel Sevilla, Calle Granada. Witnesses saw smoke and flames coming out of one room.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and the injured man was taken to Hospital Universitario Torrecardenas where he remains in a ‘very serious’ condition in intensive care.

Nine hotel rooms had to be evacuated as a result of the emergency response. However, guests were allowed back once the fire was extinguished and the smoke cleared.
Initial investigations indicate that the fire may have been deliberately set. Evidence suggests the use of flammable fluid to fuel flames.
It is believed that the fire started in the bathroom.
The officers have ruled out that it was an accident, but the motive for the alleged arson remains unknown.
The identity of the man has not yet been revealed, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fire continues.
