Top chefs head to Benahavis to fight diabetes – and inspire the next generation of culinary stars

It’s not every day that students get to cook for Michelin-starred chefs – but on April 8, the Escuela de Hosteleria de Benahavis is preparing to host a truly standout event.

It is important to note that the word “you” means “you”. amazing Charity Initiative ChefsForChildren It’s a big day for food, fundraising and learning on the Costa del Sol.

The day starts at 10 AM, with a visit to a school and discussion with the students. This is followed by a media conference at 11AM and a cocktail event at 12 PM – with the food and drinks prepared entirely by the students themselves.

Serving up change one dish at a Time

Jose Antonio Mena is the mayor of Benahavis and Manuel Cardena is the president of Mancomunidad Costa del Sol. The kitchen lineup is expected to be the highlight of the event.

Chefs confirmed include:

Benito Gomez (two Michelin stars), Bardal

Mario Cachinero of Skina (two Michelin stars)

David Olivas Back (one Michelin Star)

Jose Carlos Garcia of Jose Carlos Garcia Restaurante (one Michelin star)

Dani Carnero (one Michelin-star) of Kaleja

Israel Ramos from Mantua (1 Michelin star).

Mauricio Giovanini of Messina (one Michelin star)

Diego Gallegos (one Michelin Star) of Sollo

Diego del Rio of Boho Club

Manuel Navarro, Anantara Villa Padierna

These chef heavyweights – representing some of the finest kitchens in Malaga and beyond – will trade their fine dining menus for mentoring and fundraising, all to back a life-changing cause.

Sandra Campinas was appointed director of the foundation DiabetesCERO. will also attend. The charity, which funds research into type 1 diabetes cures, will also be in attendance. You can also read more about it here. Beneficiary of the initiative

More than a meal

ChefsForChildren isn’t just about food – it’s about giving back. Each year, top chefs come together to support charities promoting children’s health while promoting healthy eating habits.

The focus this year is on diabetes, which adds a personal and urgent note. Type 1 diabetes is affecting more youth in Spain and Europe. It’s clear that better education, better research, and better health are needed.

And what better place to promote that message than the Escuela de Hosteleria de Benahavis – one of the Costa del Sol’s most respected training grounds for the next generation of chefs?
