On Saturday, July 26, with the sun shining brightly over Alhaurín Golf, the fourth annual Tomate Huevo Toro Golf Tournament was held, an event that brought together 96 golfers from across the province and beyond, with a colourful mix of nationalities.
The Guadalhorce Valley’s Tomate Huevo Toro is a highly prized specialty and part of its heritage and identity.
The event began at 9am and was played in individual Stableford, with two men’s and one woman’s category. Organised by the Tomate Huevo Toro Association, Frutas y Verduras del Guadalhorce, and Alhaurín Golf Club, the event was warmly supported by the government through its Gusto del Sur brand, as well as the Málaga Provincial Council’s Sabor a Málaga scheme.
After a fun-filled morning on the greens the players gathered back in the clubhouse for an exclusive lunch that would celebrate the culinary heritage of this region. After the awards ceremony, the players were treated to a special lunch that celebrated the culinary heritage of the region. The day ended with an exciting raffle with great prizes.
Fernando Fernández Tapia-Ruano, the regional delegate for the Ministry of Agriculture, said, “This tournament is a celebration of our community, our traditions, and the incredible ecological produce of the Guadalhorce Valley.”
The 4th Tomate Huevo Toro Golf Tournament is not just a competition. This was a warm community gathering, a celebration of togetherness and the love of golf, as well as the pride for the agricultural heritage in Malaga.
