ENTERING through a massive wooden gate, I am greeted by a gleaming purple Rolls Royce Dawn and a navy Bentley – both as flashy as you’d expect.
The stunning vehicles sit on the driveway of Charlie Mullins’ multi-million Costa del Sol Villa.
Often dubbed the ‘world’s richest plumber’ after selling his Pimlico Plumbing business for around €150 million in 2021, it is exciting to be getting a tour of his stunning new four storey escape in southern Spain.

Charlie, an ex-pat British who has settled in Australia, is sitting at his own bar decorated with retro signs, inviting guests to unwind. Naturally, he’s drinking Champagne.
The spacious open-plan living area and kitchen are decorated in contrasting light and darker tones.
A large TV is mounted on the wall of a jet black room, with cream-coloured sofas and chairs.
The corner of the kitchen is a glass island flanked with several drink refrigerators. This makes it perfect for entertaining.
Two luxurious guest rooms are located on either side of the stairwell, down a corridor.
The beds are expansive – easily large enough for three or four people – each room equipped with a large telly.
Mullins even put baseball bats on the bedside table, a surprising touch of personal safety.

The bathrooms in suites are equipped with illuminated mirrors and black-bottomed tubs. They also have spacious showers and piles of plush, purple towels.
And yes, I checked – no faults in the Pimlico founder’s tap quality. One must also assume that there are u bends.
When I reached the basement, I saw his prize collection and toys.
The ‘games’ room is fitted with a purple-carpeted pool table, a darts board, various signed football shirts (including Lionel Messi’s), a colourful piano, an imprint of Muhammad Ali’s hand, David Bowie records, and, appropriately, Mullins’ own OBE medal.

The grand master suite of Mullins is located at the top, and it opens to a terrace fit only for royalty. It offers sweeping views over the Med with Gibraltar, Morocco and Gibraltar visible in the distance.
Another pair of baseball bats rest beside his bed – definitely a theme.
The top floor has a lounge with comfortable seating, perfect for enjoying sunset drinks with family and friends.

I thought he would use a helicopter but he may have preferred to use baseball bats to make a quick escape.
