Suppose you remember the early days of the internet– dial-up tones, floppy disks. You may also recall the moment when everything changed. The arrival of real operating systems, browsers and platforms which made the internet accessible. Instantly, the web was no longer just for engineers. It was now available to all. QNodeOS is the first operating system designed for quantum computers. Researchers from TU Delft, along with the Quantum Internet Alliance, built it as the first major step in creating a quantum internet.
What is Quantum Internet?
It is real and coming. A quantum internet will allow quantum computers around the world to connect, communicate and share data. Quantum technology is a powerful tool that can make instant secure communications possible, prevent hacking, and create breakthroughs for health, AI, defence, and research. Here’s the thing, though: Up until now, quantum computers have been built to perform specific tasks. The 1980s computers were brilliant but isolated structures. QNodeOS This is a change.
What Does QNodes Do?
QNodeOS has the same features as Mac OS or Windows with quantum technology. It provides developers with a standard method to connect, program, and control the machine. Quantum computers can communicate and work together to create the quantum Internet.
From brick phones, to smartphones, to email, to AI and now? We are watching how the network will secure your data, messages, finances and medical records. Yes, this is a wild idea. But then again, so was the 1900s.
We have been here before
Every revolution has a first quiet step. QNodeOS represents the first step towards the quantum internet. It is a bridge that connects fiction with reality. The real power of quantum internet is still unknown, just as we didn’t know what would happen to the early web.
We don’t understand the power of quantum internet yet, just as we did not know what would happen to the early web. The quantum internet will not be flashy, but when you see your data traveling through a smart, safe and fast network, it’ll become clear that the operating system is what makes this possible.
